This year has been hard for so many reasons. Between illness, political unrest, and financial struggles you may find it difficult to focus on the lighter side of things.
When I found out that Ibotta was offering a free (cash back) Thanksgiving meal, I knew I needed to share it with all of my readers! I hope you are able to get some or all of this blessing they are offering for you and your families!

How Ibotta Works
Ibotta is a free mobile app that allows you to search for certain products and add them to your account. Each item you find will have a certain amount offered as a cash back into your Ibotta account that you will receive post purchase. You’ll simply scan the barcode on your item (although, that step isn’t always required) and then scan your receipt!
The cash back amount will accrue in your Ibotta account until you’ve reached the $20 threshold. That money can then be transferred into your PayPal account or switched over to a gift card!
I have used Ibotta for several years, and there have been times I’ve saved enough cash back to put a decent amount towards Christmas gifts! One year I was able to completely purchase new decorations, towels, and supplies for the boy’s bathroom!
You can use their services for online purchases, in-store purchases, and they recently added online grocery pickup options to the app as well!
Tips for Use
Ibotta usually has a ton of offers on their app. Most of which are products my family and I will not use, due to dietary restrictions or preferences. However, before going into the grocery store, I always check out their ‘Hot Deals’ section for items that are free after purchase and see if there’s anything we could use for snacks or to bulk up meals.
Mostly, I focus on their Pantry, Produce and Any Item sections. If any of their offers apply to what’s ALREADY on my list, then I will add them to my account.
The key is to not get caught up in buying items simply because the cash back amount. For us, we try to limit processed and packaged foods, and I don’t want to make purchases that won’t get eaten just to add cash back points into my account.
Another tip is to ALWAYS check the size, quantity, and varieties included in the offer before purchase! If what you purchase doesn’t match the offer, you will not receive those rewards.
Full Disclosure
this is not a sponsored post and I have no affiliation with Ibotta or any other cash back grocery app. This deal is running as of today, November 5th, 2020 and currently states it is available while supplies last!

Other Savings Apps I Use
There are several savings apps out there. Currently, I am only using Ibotta and Fetch Rewards. Checkout 51 is another option to look into. When they were first created, they had many offers that I could find on their app, but over the past few years have not been able to find much, so I’ve stopped using it.
Fetch Rewards is another super easy option! All you do is scan your receipt post purchase, add in where you shopped and your instantly get points into your account! Certain items may get you more points into your account, but I don’t plan my shopping trips around them.
Use your points to enter sweepstakes, purchase gifts, or (my favorite) is have them transferred to gift cards!
You can sign up for Fetch Rewards with my referral code when you download the app:
